Woyome case appeal: Parties directed to file addresses

Following an appeal by the Attorney General of the ruling which vindicated businessman Alfred Woyome over the payment of a controversial 51-million-judgment debt, the Appeals Court has directed both parties involved in the case to file their written addresses within the next three weeks.

According to the three-member Appeals Court panel, the ultimatum is to pave way for a date to be set for the final judgment on the matter.

However, lead lawyer for Alfred Woyome, Christopher Koka, told the court that he has not been served a copy of the records of proceedings before the court.

The court subsequently ordered that they be served.

Meanwhile, the court adjourned to allow parties to file their addresses.

Woyome was set free by a High Court after battling various charges and counts of financial misappropriation.

The state is, however, appealing against the ruling in an attempt to seek judgment in their favour.
