The EC is entreating all political parties to desist from declaring the 2016 election results.
The EC at a news briefing said it has taken notice of the pronouncement of the NPP on the polls and said by law, it is only the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission who has the right to declare the winner of the election.
The Director of Electoral Services at the EC’s headquarters Samuel Tettey addressed the media.
The EC has also urged Ghanaians to remain calm and wait for the EC to perform its constitutional mandate in declaring the certified election results.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission says it is unable to announce the results of 25 constituencies it has received because the various political parties at the EC’s strong room have refused to sign to certify them.
They want to align the results with the constituency pink sheets before certifying them.
