We’ll investigate Menzgold and retrieve funds for customers – John Mahama assures

Former President John Mahama has clarified that his next administration will pay disgruntled customers of defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold their principals.

He said his government may not be able to pay depositors the “fantastic” profits the firm promised them but will help “alleviate them from their plight.”

Speaking on Dwaboase on Power 97.9 FM Thursday morning, the NDC 2020 flagbearer said his government will investigate the Menzgold saga and ensure that the defrauded customers get something home.

“The little we can do to help Menzgold customers we will in order to alleviate their plight,” Mr Mahama assured.

“If for instance someone invested GHC1000 and was expecting some huge interest if we cannot pay the interest, at least the GHC1000 government should be able to sort that person out”.

John Dramani Mahama said he will not let the issue rest unlike how the Akufo-Addo government has allowed perpetrators of the scheme off the hook.

He said, “We will also investigate the issue and retrieve the monies and properties that we can from the management of the company so government can top up to settle the outstanding issues.”

“The government is not interested in investigating Menzgold,” Mahama stated as he bemoaned Police brutality on customers who protested outside the home of Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah, months ago.

The gold dealership company which took deposits from over 60,000 Ghanaians, is unable to pay the mouthwatering dividends promised the customers after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordered the closure of the gold dealership firm in 2018.

Appiah Mensah has been arraigned before court, with several charges slapped on him.

Customers have had their hopes dashed because the court keeps adjourning the case as customers keep protesting and holding press conferences to get the attention of the government but their efforts have been unnoticed.

With the promise from the opposition leader, it is not surprising that thousands of the aggrieved customers have declared support for Mr Mahama who is leading the NDC into a crucial elections next Monday, December 7, 2020.

PRO for the angry customers, Fred Forson told Prince Minkah on XYZ Tonight on TV XYZ that the Akufo-Addo government was not interested in their plight.

He believes there are some elements who are shielding Nana Appiah Mensah and delaying the court processes despite their series of protests.
