We can’t employ Anyone – Osafo Maafo insists

Senior Minister, Yaw Osaafo Maafo, is hinting of massive layoffs in the public sector if government fails to partner the private sector for the provision of jobs.

Speaking at the Ghana Economic Forum at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, Yaw Osafo Maafo argues that the relevance of the public sector continues to fade away especially when the private sector continues to be competitive in the creation of jobs. “The public service is very chocked, we cannot employ anymore people.

If we fail to invest in the private sector, we may be convulsed to lay off workers,” the minister revealed in a key note address. Meanwhile, government has revealed plans to ensuring that more jobs are created from the private sector.

This has been seen with the coming in of the planting for food and jobs program which is expected to create over 750,000 jobs and also the provision of tax incentives for private sector businesses resolved in employing more persons.

The Ghana Economic Forum is an annual event which sees industry players deliberate on the key issues bothering Ghana’s macro-economy.
