Volta Region chiefs elect new president

The Volta Regional House of Chiefs has unanimously elected the Paramount Chief of Likpe Traditional Area, Nana Soglo Alloh as President of the House.

He succeeds the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede whose term has ended after serving for eight years during which Nana Alloh also served as Vice President.

The Paramount Chief of Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo has also been elected Vice President of the House after defeating two other paramount chiefs in the election.

Three other Paramount Chiefs have been elected making it five chiefs to represent the House at the National House of Chiefs from the Region.

They are the Paramount Chief of Battor, Togbega Patamia Dzekley , the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede , and the Osie of Avatime, Togbe Adza Tekpor.

The Volta Regional Minister, Helen Ntoso who witnessed the proceedings in the House commended the chiefs for going through the election successfully and expressed the hope that their position as partners in development will continue to strengthen in the overall interest of the people.

The outgoing President of the House, Togbe Afede congratulated the chiefs for the patience and involvement in the process for a peaceful election adding that the spirit with which they contested in a friendly atmosphere is remarkable.

The newly elected President, Nana Soglo Alloh thanked the House for the confidence reposed in him.
