Veep explains to Nalerigu Nursing trainees reason why allowance was scrapped

Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and running mate to President Mahama has reiterated reasons why the National Democratic Congress government (NDC) had to scrap the teacher and trainee allowances to make room for improved access to education.

Speaking on tour in the Northern Region, he told the trainees at Nalerigu Nursing and Midwifery College and the Gambaga College that education was a right so the Mahama government repealed the allowances to rope in more potential students.”

He asked the students not to buy the sweet talks of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) since their pledge of reinstating the allowances was potentially destructive.

Mr. Amisaah Arthur submitted, having made the Colleges of Education and Nursing Colleges a degree awarding one, it was only fair to make them access the loan facilities available to all tertiary students.
