Supreme Court Orders EC To Submit Full List Of ‘NHIS Registered Voters’

The Supreme Court has ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to submit in writing, the full list of persons who used NHIS cards to register for the voters ID card.

The EC is also to furnish the court in writing, the steps it has put in place to comply with the court’s orders to clean the current voters register to comply with the constitution.

The Court gave the EC up to the 29th of June to comply with its orders.

The five-member panel of Judges, chaired by the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood, said the orders given are in pursuant to Article two of the Constitution.

The Supreme Court gave the orders in respect of an application filed by a former National Youth Organiser of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Abu Ramadan, in May seeking clarification and further directions on the court’s judgement on his suit, challenging the credibility of the current voters register.
