“Prime Minister” Otchere-Darko explains reason behind Ghana’s presence at IMF’s doors

3RD JULY 2022

A cousin of the President and leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Otchere-Darko, has been explaining why the Akufo-Addo government has been forced to seek economic refuge from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Most communicators of the government as well as the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are staying away from the government’s decision to go for an IMF bail after condemning ex-President John Dramani Mahama for going to the Fund calling him lazy and incompetent, so Gabby stepped in to rationalize his cousin’s decision to send their cousin; Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to lead the IMF talk.

Gabby, blamed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) saying no government, in this current situation, could have avoided going to the Fund for support especially when its revenue mobilisation efforts are met with fierce opposition from Parliament and the public.

This, per his assessment, includes the intense opposition of the Minority against the controversial E-Levy.
