President John Mahama has assured the people of Aboabo and Asawase in the Ashanti Region that the Aboabo drain project is currently before Parliament and reconstruction will take off soon.
The Aboabo drain is noted for flooding any time it rains heavily. Last year, a downpour displaced scores of residents and two people lost their lives.
President Mahama mentioned this when he called on Zongo chiefs at Asawase Central mosque as part of his ‘Accounting to the People’ Tour in the Ashanti Region.

President Mahama also stated that government’s intention is to distribute development equally to all the regions.
He said as President, he does not consider some regions as favourites adding that, every region will get a piece of the national cake.
The spokesperson of the leader of the Zongo Chiefs, Alhaji Umar Farouk Saeed thanked President Mahama for the projects in the township.
He asked for livelihoods to be created for the youth of the area to benefit.
President Mahama also inspected ongoing works on the ultra-modern market for Asawase and surrounding towns.
President Mahama was given a rousing welcome at the start of his tour of the region.
