President Mahama inaugurates Millennium School at Mamprobi

A new Millennium City School has been inaugurated at the Salvation Army cluster of schools at Mamprobi in Accra.

This is the 16th school out of 121 to be constructed by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. It is a World Bank initiative under the Local Government Capacity Support Project.

Inaugurating the facility as part of his “Accounting to the People Tour” of the Greater Accra Region, President Mahama said government remains committed to ensuring quality education.

He said the Millennium City Schools are aimed at stopping the old shift system which only encouraged truancy among children.

President Mahama said he has directed the Ministry of Education to procure 100 thousand school sandals to be distributed free of charge to school children across the country. Five hundred thousand school uniforms will also be procured for the same purpose.

School children are to receive at least three textbooks which will be published in the country.

The Minister of Education, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, used the opportunity to thank WAEC for a-hitch-free BECE.

She looked forward to more examinations devoid of leakages.
