President Mahama Announces The Construction of 5 More District Hospitals & Polyclinic

President John Mahama has announced the construction of five more district hospitals and one polyclinic across the country.

He said the retooling of existing health facilities and refurbishing of wards at the cost of 264 million dollars are geared towards extending healthcare to the doorstep of Ghanaians.

President Mahama said this when he inaugurated the Shai Osudoku District Hospital at Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region.

The Shai Osudoku District Hospital is one of the six district hospitals being constructed by the government.

The six facilities are estimated at 175 million dollars.

The Kumawu and the Fomena District Hospitals will be completed in October this year.
The others are Sekondi, Abetifi and Garu-Tempane. President Mahama tasked the authorities to make maintenance of the facilities a priority.

The next five batch of the district hospitals will be sited in Buipe, Sawla-Kalba, Wheta, Somanya and Tolon and a polytechnic in Bamboi.

President Mahama said the government will continue to put the people of Ghana first in the development and implementation of policies and programs.

The construction of these hospitals according to the President will therefore impact positively on the lives of the people.

On national health insurance, the President said the government will support the National Health Insurance Authority to ensure that no client is denied access to quality and affordable health care.

He said investment in health facilities is reflecting positively in the lives of Ghanaians.
