President John Mahama is today [Friday]

expected to join party faithful of the National Democratic Congress at the Party Headquarters to mark the 24 th Anniversary of the formation of the party.
The party was founded by the former President, Flt Lt. Jerry John Rawlings on June 10, 1992.
NDC which subscribes to the ideology of Social Democracy has been in power for close to 16 years out of the 24 years of the fourth republic producing three presidents in the process namely Founder Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings, Late President Atta Mills and President Mahama.

The event to mark the anniversary is expected to attract top functionaries of the party as well as grass root supporters of the party.
About NDC

NDC was founded by Jerry John Rawlings who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001.

The NDC was formed ahead of elections in 1992 and in 1996, returned Rawlings to power.
Rawlings’ second term ended in 2001.

The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election and it was not until the 2008 that it regained it with candidate John Atta Mills.
