Time has again exposed and revealed the sinister and malicious agenda hatched by government, with the very active endorsement and participation of President Akufo-Addo against the Auditor-General, Mr. Daniel Yao Domelovo.
The attached Cabinet memo all but confirms the fears of about 22 CSO’s, the NDC and other well-meaning Ghanaians that the Akufo-Addo government is out to bastardize, demonize and eventually hound Mr. Domelovo out of office for no justifiable cause other than his hardline stance $1million Kroll Associates scandal involving the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Marfo.
The memo is written by Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo at the instance of President Akufo-Addo, instructing the Chief of Staff to convene an emergency Cabinet meeting to discuss Mr. Domelovo, whom according to President Akufo-Addo is working for his political opponents. The President further believes that Mr. Domelovo is merely out to attack his government to make them unpopular going into an election year, hence the need to marshal the entire government machinery to oust him from office.
We in the NDC are scandalized, but not surprised that President Akufo-Addo has unleashed his attack dogs who are hiding behind EOCO, against Mr. Domelovo. Even at a time when Mr. Domelovo has filed a legal suit against EOCO for their unlawful and unwarranted attack on him, EOCO with the full backing of the Presidency, has found the effrontery to issue statements and make pronouncements that clearly prejudice the impending court case. This is the kind of Ghana we have under Akufo-Addo!
Fellow Ghanaians, the rule of law is under serious attack by President Akufo-Addo, and if we all sit aloof for this continuous bastardization of state institutions to continue, there will be none left in this country in few years to come. Let us arise and defend truth and justice!
