President Akufo-Addo Inaugurates $55.5 million Water Project @ Jambusi in U/West Region

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a fifty-five-point-five million dollars water project at Jambusi in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.

The facility will supply three-point-three million gallons of water to people in the regional capital Wa and other selected communities in the Wa West District.

The inauguration of the facility forms part of the president’s two day working visit to the region.

A report by Radio Ghana’s Sualah Abdul-wahab says this is the first visit of the president to the Upper West Region since he assumed office.

On arrival at the Wa airstrip President Akufo-Addo inspected guard of honour and proceeded to Jambusi where he inaugurated the water project.

The project started in 2013 with a Korean Exim Bank loan of fifty-five-point-five-zero million Dollars.

Its scope includes the construction of intake facility, a conventional water treatment plant, intermediate pumping station and water storage tanks.

The paramount chief of Dorimon, Naa Sohemwinenye Danaa Gore thanked the government for the project and also implementing the free senior high school program.

Minister of Water and Sanitation, Kofi Adda entreated beneficiaries to protect the project to ensure its life span.

The Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Kim Sungsoo said his government will continue to partner with the government of Ghana in different areas of the economy.

President Akufo-Addo said government is determined to fulfill its promises made to the people of Ghana in spite of the financial difficulties it inherited.

The president is expected to visit Lawra, Nandom, Gwollu and Tumu for the second day of his tour.
