we’re practicing wrong democracy

Leader and founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has said that, Ghana is currently suffering because the good people in the country are quiet due to the partisan form of governance practiced in the country. The defeated presidential aspirant in the recent People’s National Convention (PNC) flagbearership race who had to resign, from his party to form his all new certified APC said, the country is not benefiting from our natural resources because only a few partisan leaders have taken over power to decided for over 25 million Ghanaians.

”We have practiced democracy for some years now; but we have been practicing the wrong kind of democracy I think; and that is the partisan kind of democracy; and it has affected our nation from the day of independence till date.

That Instead of Ghana moving forward, we are moving backwards. Ghana has not failed today because NDC is in power; No, Ghana has not failed today because NDC is power today, Ghana has failed because the good people are quiet.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

” According to him, Ghana is currently polarized because of the current form of governance we practice which has given only opportunity to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and because of their unwarranted criticism and counter-criticism between it has created deep political divisions in the country, a stance that has affected the country and worsened our plight.

” A huge chunk of our human resource is wasted. Anytime a partisan political party is in power, the rest of our people are ignored or sidelined. So you imagine 24 million people in Ghana and anytime a political party is in power, less than 1 million people are managing our affairs and making decisions for the rest of the 24 million; and not even positive decisions, because anytime they make decisions, the opposition political parties will make sure they pull them down…” so they come to power, he added.

The presidential hopeful who is seeking to win the 2016 general elections, believes that its about time Ghana begins to rethink and practice and an all inclusive form of governance to tap into the skills and human resource to solve our problems. ”…We need a platform that everybody is given equal opportunity and the same chance to serve this nation and that platform is the APC because we believe in unity, all inclusive governance and we think that all of us put together will make good use of our resources and build Ghana better than having a partisan kind of democracy.”
