Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, is not missing any opportunity to speak and bash the John Mahama government and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He will be making his first major public outing today, to speak about “security, liberty and prosperity” at a sit-down polictal rally inside the plush Alisa Hotel at Ridge in Accra with good food and expensive booze on the table to devour after the speech.

This comes days after his three South Africans guests, busted by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) were declared unwanted by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and extradited for training party activists in weapon handling and other military combat drills in an abandoned hotel in the Central Region, leading to the arrest of his 69-year old bodyguard, Captain Edmund Koda.

Nana Addo, according to sources within his fold, will speak mainly about the arrests by the BNI, the extradition of his three South Africans guests, the BNI’s arrest of Managing Director (MD) of Granite and Marble, Dr. Ayo Ani, on the orders of the National Security Advisor, Baba Kamara, over his alleged taking of pictures of some 50 Mahindra pick-ups, erroneously said to be for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) but being branded for John Mahama and the NDC.

The luxurious Alisa Hotel, will host Nana Addo, to commemorate the 10th anniversary celebration of the death of Ferdinand O Ayim; onetime Special Assistant to the yet-to-be-buried, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, when he served as Minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital City in the John Kufuor government.

Mr. Ayim, perished in a road accident, on April 6, 2006, on the Accra-Kumasi highway at Osino with two others, including a lady friend.

According to details of the programme published on the flagbearer’s website, the lecture starts at 6:00 pm, and members of the public are invited.
Insiders revealed that the speech to be delivered today by the NPP leader was written by lawyer and criminologist, Prof. Ken Agyemang Attafuah, with inputs from Nana Addo’s nephew, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, and former Minister of Information, Oboshie Sai Coffie.

Prof. Attafuah, will not grace the occasion, because information available to The Herald, indicates that he is attending a United Nations (UN) meeting on anti-corruption academics in far away Doha Qatar.

The Herald, also gathered that, Nana Addo would speak about the extradition of his three South African guest; Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (rtd), 54; Warrant Officer Denver Dwayhe, 33; and Captain Mungiseli Jokani, 45, who were arrested at the El Capitano Hotel in Agona Duakwa in the Central Region, training some 15 young men in various security drills, including armed combat, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques and rapid response exercises.

Other issues he plans to talk about are activities of Nomadic Fulani Herdsmen at Agogo, where indigenes demonstrated yesterday over government’s inability to curtail Fulani menace, the keeping of two ex-Guantanamo Bay detainees, the supposed prophetic terrorists attack on Ghana by popular Nigerian prophet, T.B Joshua, among others.

The Agogo demonstration, The Herald additionally gathered, was organized yesterday to prepare the way for the NPP flagbearer’s delivery today.
The last time Nana Addo organized this form of town hall meeting was on February 29, 2016 called “True State of the Nation” address to counter President John Dramani Mahama’s mandated State of the Nation Address delivered in Parliament, Thursday, February 25, 2016.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com

That town hall rally was at the College of Physicians and Surgeons with ex-President Kufuor and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, gracing the occasion.

The lecture today, will seek to arouse members of the party and prepare the minds of Ghanaians on supposed “harassments” by the security agencies, ahead of the November 7, 2016 presidential and parliamentary polls.

The programme is believed to be Nana Addo’s contribution to the main campaign. The NPP flagbearer hangs around towns and cities, attending funerals, visiting churches and town hall rallies. His running mate, Dr. Bawumia, has been left to do the leg work by roaming the country.

The NPP’s belief is that, the 72-year old Nana Addo, is not as healthy and energetic as before. To them, he is already known having contested the presidency twice, hence his leg work must be reduced considerably.
