Otiko Djaba snubs Nana Addo

Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba has rebuffed all efforts at getting her to accept to either publicly apologise to Bugri Naabu, Northern Regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, or resign from the Akufo-Addo administration.

“I won’t apologise for speaking the truth and you know it. All of you know what Chairman Bugri Naabu has been saying about me all over the place, to the extent of calling me a lesbian and alleging that I have been having lesbian relationship with our regional women organisers. Are you people saying you haven’t heard him saying these things about me,” Otiko Djaba was quoted by one of the sources as having retorted when it was suggested that she renders a public apology for her comments against Bugri Naabu.

According to our sources, when it was pointed out to her tat refusing to apologise would leave the president with no option other than to demand her resignation, Otiko was quoted by the one of sources as having retorted that, “then Nana would have to sack me. I won’t resign. Resigning over this matter would have the same effect of an apology; meaning that I have accepted that I have done something wrong. I have not done anything wrong. You people should be speaking to Chairman Bugri Naabu, not me.”

Told that she was leaving the appointing authority with openly the choice of sacking her, our sources say Otiko said she prefers that she is seen as having been sacked for speaking the truth and standing by it than to apologise for speaking the truth or resign over speaking the truth.

Otiko Afisa Djaba, who doubles as the National Women Organiser of the governing party, aroused the ire of the Northern Regional chairman of the NPP, Bugri Naabu, when she summoned the women organisers of the constituencies of the region to a hotel where she feted them without the knowledge of the regional chairman.

In the resulting public altercations between the two, Otiko Djaba revealed that Bugri Naabu has been collecting bribes in the form of goats, cattle, and other things from persons seeking t be engaged by the executive.

Otiko’s revelations have been deemed by most followers of the governing party as deeply embarrassing to not just the party, but the President and it is for this reason that she was being prevailed upon to either apologise and withdraw the accusations against Bugri Naabu or to resign from government.
