Oppong Nkrumah & Senior Staff of Ministry of Information paid themselves ¢151k as Covid-19 allowance

The Auditor-General of the Republic of Ghana, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, has directed that the Information Ministry refunds some ¢151,500 paid to its own management and staff without approval.

This information was revealed by Mr Asiedu’s audit of Covid-19 funds for the period March 2020 to June 2022.

“During our review, we noted that senior management staff and other supporting staff of the Ministry of Information paid themselves a total amount of GH¢151,500.00 as COVID-19 risk allowance for coming to work during the lockdown,” the report stated

Following these report by the Auditor General of the Republic, many Ghanaians have been reacting to the revelation by the nations auditor.

This report had come in such a period when the country is in crisis as a result of the inability of the country to service it’s debts to both local and international bond holders.
