NPP suspends dep. women’s organizer for supporting Otiko Djaba

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region, has suspended the party’s deputy regional women’s organizer, Hajia Safia, for supporting the Minister for Gender, Women and Children Affairs, Otiko Afisa Djaba.

Hajia Safia was sanctioned by the regional leadership for allegedly causing confusion in the party with Otiko Afisa Djaba.

According to the Northern Regional Chairman of the Party, Daniel Bugri Naabu, “As I’m talking to you now, yesterday [Sunday], the regional executive committee met, and the decision was a unanimous decision. All the executives sanctioned that we should suspend her [Hajia Safia]. So she is on suspension as the Deputy Regional Women’s Organizer.”

On Friday, May 5, 2017, Otiko had an altercation with Bugri Naabu on Friday in Tamale after the NPP National Women’s Organiser said she went to meet women organisers of the party in the Northern region.

Otiko Djaba, however, alleged that Bugri Naabu has collected people’s monies, goats, cows and other things from people and promised them jobs with the School Feeding programme.
Bugri Naabu speaking in an interview with Accra-based radio XYZ, he said “These are the people she [Otiko Djaba] ganged up with to destabilize my [Northern] region…We are also asking Tamale Central and Tamale South constituency executives to discipline the other two constituency women organizer’s in the same way.”

Meanwhile, he has accused Otiko Afisa Djaba in the murder of NPP’s Upper East regional chairman, Adams Mahama.

He has however, threatened to sue Otiko Djaba for accusing him of taking a bribe.
Meanwhile, president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday summoned Ms Otiko Afisa Djaba and Bugri Naabu to the Flagstaff House over the matter.
