NPP Chairman tells Nana Addo: dismiss BOG ‘NDC’ Governor to save the cedi

The 1st vice chairman of the incumbent New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Bodinga has called on President Nana Akufo Addo to sack the current Governor of the Bank Of Ghana Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku in order to salvage the fast depreciating cedi.

According to Alhaji Umar Bodinga, Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku in the 2000 general election contested as a parliamentary candidate for Sabongida in the Northern region on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), and as a result, there is a possibility that Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku is sabotaging the Akufo Addo led government, considering the speed at which the Ghana cedi is depreciating.

Barely a week after former Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr.Henry Kofi Wampah proceeded on leave prior to his retirement, Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama appointed Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku as the acting Governor of Ghana’s Central Bank. However, after the 2016 general elections, Ex-President Mahama made Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku’s appointment substantive making him (Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku) the 14th Governor of the Central Bank since its inception in 1957.

Considering how Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku was appointed, makes the NPP chairman anticipate a diabolical plan by the NDC to make the New Patriotic Party government unpopular in handling the Ghana cedi currency.

“That is the reason why at the peak of the elections when NDC was about to leave power President Mahama brought Dr. Ishahaku to be governor of Bank of Ghana. The Cedi is depreciating because of the diabolic agenda of NDC member being the governor.”
Alhaji Umar Bodinga is therefore President Akufo Addo to show the Central Bank’s Governor the exit and replace him with a competent person who will put in place fiscal measures that would see the Ghana Cedi appreciating as expected by Ghanaians.
