Nii Lante Vanderpuye retains Odododiodio by close to 10,000 votes

Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has retained his seat after polling 36,606 votes in the December 7 parliamentary elections.

The pre-election campaign in the hotbed of Greater Accra Region politics has been keen and a two-horse race between Nii Lante Vanderpuye and relative Nii Lante Bannerman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

After results were counted and declared on Thursday, December 8, the Minister of Youth and Sports, whose campaign has been always pepped up with Shatta Wale’s Kakai, won the polls by 9,935 votes.

The NPP candidate polled 26,671 votes. While All People’s Congress’ candidate polled 69 votes, Convention People’s Party’s and Progressive People’s Party’s candidates polled 422 votes and 411 votes respectively.

Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama’s votes at the constituency were 611 votes more than his appointee’s while Nana Akufo-Addo’s votes were 86 less than his parliamentary candidate’s
