The National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants the Electoral Commission (EC) to cancel the votes of about 200 polling stations in the Ashanti and Eastern regions, where the party said over-voting occurred.

The party said it had evidence of wrongdoing in those locations that could impact the outcome of the election.

According to Alhaji Haruna Rashid Ibrahim, the NDC representative at the EC’s National Collation Centre (Strong Room), if the commission cancels the results from those 200 polling stations in line with C.I. 94, it would cause a reduction in the votes gathered by Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Pary (NPP).

He added that with 212 constituencies collated by the EC so far, Mahama held a slight edge over Akufo-Addo.

Rashid Ibrahim conceded that the NDC had lost several parliamentary seats in the country, but insisted that case was different for Mahama.

He said the party was comfortable with Mahama’s lead in the presidential election.

Meanwhile, Joy FM’s latest collated result from 251 constituencies has Akufo-Addo leading by 53.64%. Mahama has 44.58%.
