NDC urges Muslims to use Eid-ul-Fitr to preach peace

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked Ghanaians to use the occasion of Eid Ul Fitr to rededicate themselves to the cause of peace and security in the country.

The party is also urging the nation to shun acts of violence, intolerance and impunity that has the tendency to disturb the peace and tranquility of the nation, especially as it goes to the polls at the end of the year.

The admonitions were contained in a congratulatory message to Muslims in Ghana and the world over on their successful completion of Ramadan, the holy month when Muslims fast, abstain from base desires and purify their spirits.

The statement titled “USE EID UL FITR TO PREACH PEACE: NDC URGES” was signed by the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

“The NDC extends its warmest felicitations and congratulations to Muslims in Ghana and the world over on a successful completion of Ramadan.

“We believe that the 30 days of fasting which forms one of the core pillars in Islam has further deepened your faith and spiritually strengthened your relationship and engagement with Allah.

“The NDC wishes to use this occasion to commend you for your zeal and commitment with which you ceaselessly pray for the nation and the world during Ramadan.”

The statement said the dedication to prayer, undoubtedly gives credence to Muslims’ cherished vision and expectations of seeking perpetual peace, welfare and development of mankind.

“The NDC urges the nation to use the occasion to rededicate ourselves to ensuring peace and security in the country especially, as the nation goes to the polls at the end of the year.

“We also urge the nation to shun any acts of violence, intolerance and impunity that has the tendency to disturb the peace and tranquility of the nation.

“We wish Muslims Baraka da Salah.”
