NDC presidential aspirants petition again over GH¢320,000 filing fee

Six flag bearer-hopefuls of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have petitioned the party’s Council of Elders over the GH¢320,000 filing and nomination fees.
The petitioners are Alban Bagbin, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Sylvester Mensah, Goosie Tanoh, Alhaji Nurudeen Iddrisu and Stephen Atubiga.

Earlier, they petitioned the elders over the “exorbitant” GH¢420,000 filing fee which was reduced to GH¢320,000.

The petition said the party was imposing “unreasonable” filing fees on the aspirants.

In the petition, they averred that the NEC did not meet the procedural requirements set out in Article 42 (1) (f) of the NDC constitution for publishing electoral guidelines.

According to reports, the aspirants proposed that the filing fees be pegged at GH¢150,000 when they first met the Council of Elders.
