NDC is inconsistent in the outcome of just-ended voters’ registration exercise –Kweku Baako

Veteran journalist and Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has rubbished the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) calls for an independent audit of the new voters’ register, saying they have no case.

Though some elements in the NDC including the flagbearer, John Mahama have applauded the Electoral Commission (EC) for the just-ended voters’ registration exercise, others including the Director of Elections, Elvis Afriyie – Ankrah want an independent auditing of the register.

But Mr Baako speaking on Newsfile Show on Saturday monitored by said “looking at the NDC’s position it has been inconsistent. It’s been moving from one level to another. They never appear to be satisfied with the process in spite of the fact that now we have some leaders of the party saying this has been largely successful. “

“So, what is the challenge that we are going to call for an independent auditor? I don’t think that they have a case” he argued.

He stressed “they are many processes that quite a combined and properly managed activated, will address their concern. But to ask for an independent auditing by an independent body is just a recycling of this whole element which is suspicious, which they have been doing from day one. “

He added that “the VCRAC Crabbe committee was not an independent audit…it was not, it was just a panel. They set up a forum for all the parties who were agitating for a new register.”

According to him, the EC did not contract an independent audit body at that time saying “if they [NDC] are concern and they feel they have evidence, they nowhere to go, otherwise we have processes to go through”.
