NDC disbands Appeals Committee in five regions

13th April 2023

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has decided to disband Appeals Committees in regions with no cases after the vetting of parliamentary aspirants.

In all, five regions namely Upper West, Upper East, Savannah, Bono East and North-East were without any appeals from aspirants disqualified after the vetting.

This was contained in a notice issued by the party to announce the date on which all appeals will be heard.

The opposition party, which is gearing to elect its candidates – both presidential and parliamentary – for the 2024 elections, says appeals will be heard on Thursday and Friday, April 14.

“Only one day is designated for appeals,” the notice indicated. “However, committees can decide to use either Thursday or Friday for the exercise.”

Western Region is said to have the highest number of appeal cases, of seven, while the Greater Accra and Oti regions have four each.

Eastern Region has three cases to be heard while Ashanti, Volta, Northern and Central regions have two each.

Ahafo, Western North and Bono regions have one case each.

The final determination of the cases will constitute the last hurdle for the May 13 primaries, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
