NDC chair race: We want Asiedu Nketia – Coalition of National Youth Organisers

17th December 2022

The Coalition of National Youth Organisers has said it is following events in the run-up to Saturday’s national elections for new leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with Keen interest.
The coalition said in a statement that it endorses the candidature of Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who, in its view, has stood up for the name of Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah, since the NDC has always stood with theNkrumaist political parties.

The coalition noted that one person they have observed as a loud voice and an ally in fighting the attempt to erase Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s name from Ghana’s history is the incumbent General Secretary.

Throwing their support behind Mr Nketia, the coalition said: “He has been relentless in quoting facts, referencing history in his unabated defence of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah”.

“As young politicians, we have also witnessed the courage, wisdom, experience, strategy and passion that Mr Asiedu Nketiah has served his Party with.”

The group added: “We cannot also forget the deep knowledge of Mr Asiedu Nketiah when it comes to good electoral processes, which he has exhibited at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) over the years, which has shaped most of our electoral reforms.”

These, among many other qualities, the coalition said, have informed their collective decision as National Youth Organizers from the PNC, APC, GCPP, CPP and the PPP that “working with Mr Asiedu Nketiah for our common interest will be easier than any of the contestants who are competing for the NDC National chairmanship position.”

The NDC goes to congress today, Saturday, 17 December 2022, to elect national executives.
