NDC to beg on behalf of destooled chief

The Ashanti Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed hopes of pleading with the Kingmakers of Essienimpong in Ejisu on behalf of the destooled sub-chief, Nana Ekon Ansah Boafo.
Nana Ekon Ansa Boafo was verbally destooled after acting as a polling station agent for the National Democratic Congress in the December elections.

Nana Ekon Ansa Boafo who is the Ankobeahene of Essienimpong, broke the chieftaincy act by getting involved in politics.
As per the enstoolment rules, he is not to be seen performing any traditional rights in a capacity as a chief.
However, the NDC’s regional Vice Chair, Alex Attivor Sawyer, has argued that the chief was not fully engaged as a party polling station agent on the day of elections as being reported.

He explained that the chief “went there and realized our agents were not there. So he called the Chairman. And the Chairman said OK, he should hold on and he will come and bring the actual polling agents. It’s very bad and unfortunate.

“Chieftaincy and politics does not mingle. We can only go there and plead on his behalf which we have not yet done. We’ll discuss to see how best we can reach out to the King makers over there,” Mr Sawyer told Accra-based Citi FM.
