Let’s suspend “our politics” and mark ‘the one year anniversary of Asantehemaa’s with Otumfuo – mahama tells crowd

Former President John Dramani Mahama to joined Otumfuo and the people of Ashanti Region to celebrate the one year anniversary of the late Asantehemaa.

After observing all the necessary protocol at the Kumasi Airport, the former President proceeded to the main yard where people had formed human wall on the road leading to the Kumasi township.

They chanted songs and demanded that he address the crowd. Kwasi Oppong, a trader who could not control his emotion, walked straight to the former President in tears bowed before him and asked for forgiveness. His action invited cheers and chants and moved the crowd closer to the former President.

The former President who looked calm and radiant, smiled as he waved to the mammoth crowd. Inside the airport itself, the former President’s arrival excited many people including workers at the airport who chanted his name and prayed for his return.

The former President had to intervene himself to calm the elated crowd.

He advised them to suspend all political activities and advised the spare parts dealers who were at the airport to welcome him with placards to suspend their action and focus on the one year anniversary of the Asantehemaa. He said “The late Queen mother treated me like a biological child. She guided me with her motherly counselling and was always ready to receive whenever I visit my brother the King”. From there he proceeded to Manhyia.

Hundreds of people formed human wall on the streets of Kumasi. The shouted his name and chanted “Begye y3n” as the the former President’s convoy made its way through the human traffic. Traders lined up on the streets of Kumasi with taxi and trotro drivers driving behind his convoy with their horns blazing throughout.
