JUSAG meeting with Employment Minister ends inconclusively

remuneration resolution meeting held between the Judicial Service Workers Association of Ghana (JUSAG) and the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations over the recent indefinite strike of the former has ended inconclusively.

JUSAG last Friday declared an indefinite nationwide strike over delays in the implementation of the consolidated salaries and emoluments of its members.
This was despite an assurance by the Ministry that JUSAG would be paid only when President John Dramani Mahama approves it.

Tuesday’s meeting was held to bring the two sides to a middle ground to resolve the strike action that has resulted in the closure of courts across the country.

A second leg of the meeting has bee scheduled to be held on Thursday, May 26.
This was made known by the President of JUSAG, Alex Nartey, in a telephone interview with Onua FM a few hours after the meeting.

JUSAG’s leadership had earlier rejected negotiations with government over the consolidated salaries, insisting that implementation was the way forward having done negotiations last year.

Speaking to Onua FM, Mr Nartey revealed that JUSAG made progress at Tuesday’s meeting, hoping for a conclusion on Thursday.GhanaPolitocsOnline.com

“The meeting with the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations has ended successfully with no discrepancies. We made some strides but couldn’t conclude on things. We are waiting for Thursday to achieve that,” he said.

He, therefore, assured Ghanaians to exercise restraint since his outfit was working around the clock to address the issues and bring happenings to normalcy. Tv3network.com
