JOY FM AGAIN? …Apology not enough

Priding itself as leader in independent private broadcasting in Ghana, Kokomleme-based Joy FM, a once credible and largely seen objective radio station in Ghana, has now declared its stance as an agent tirelessly working to further the cause of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

Since the inception of the Mahama government, JOY FM and Multimedia Group in general have never ceased to create public disaffection for the administration either through outright falsehood, half-truth and or, mischievous reportage; all with the sole aim of forcing a regime change. You here www.GhanaPoliticsOnline.com

Even in clear cases where the once impartial and balanced media outlet was caught flat-footed for peddling false and malicious stories about government, the station either renders half-hearted apology or arrogantly fail to do what is rightly accepted in journalism.

The station has for some time now not disappointed its NPP allies of peddling lies to paint the Mahama government as filthy corrupt and not fit to rule in order to pave the way for the three time flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo to achieve his childhood presidential ambition in the upcoming November polls in Ghana. This sinister agenda got the government provoked in 2014. The government in 2004 accused the multimedia group and Joy FM in particular, of working towards a regime change in one of their highly hyped but erroneous reportage that, the President ‘stopped’ managers of the defunct Merchant bank from collecting monies his brother, Ibrahim Mahama owed the bank.

Government’s protest and the shame it brought to managers of Joy Fm was not enough to deter the station from pursuing its evil agenda. The media outfit has since rather reinvigorated its regime-change-agenda by not only sending out its reporters to discredit ‘anything and everything’ NDC but, has relentlessly continued peddling falsehood about the John Mahama administration.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com/

In the heat of prosecuting its diabolic agenda, Joy FM Morning Show host, Kojo Yankson last week likened president Mahama to an armed robber. This was after another reporter of the same station; Manasseh Azuri Awuni had aired a phony investigative report alleging that a Burkinabe contractor bribed the president with a Ford Expedition car.

This report was hurriedly aired to cover the stations earlier false reportage that the Komenda Sugar Factory had been shut down three days after it was commissioned by President Mahama.

Without any apology to the general public after the station was exposed by its own sister station, Adom Fm; Joy Fm again lied the the Dodo-Pepeso-Nkwanta road which the president commissioned recently and praised the Burkinabe contractor for a good work done had begun developing potholes.

Irked by the station’s persistent imbalanced reportage and in some cases outright lies and pure disdain for the president and the NDC, a concerned Ghanaian, Nii Addo Quayenor last week wrote an “open letter” to the Chief Executive of Multimedia, Kwesi Twum, calling on him to take action or risk destroying his reputation and all the gains he has chalked in the media front in particular, and the nation as a whole.
