John Mahama drags NPP’s Abronye to CID over false claims

Former President, H.E John Mahama,  through his lawyers, has presented a petition to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Bono Region, Kwame Baffoe ,also known as Abronye DC over allegations that the former is planning to assassinate some NPP personalities in Ghana.

The petition signed by lawyer Tony Lithur and presented to the CID boss, COP Ken Yeboah, stated that he had been instructed by Mr Mahama to “formally lodge on his behalf, criminal complaints” against the NPP man following the allegations that were made on Net 2 TV which have since been circulating  on Facebook and WhatsApp.

“…Abronye DC made certain false claims, alleging a plot to be masterminded by the NDC and His Excellency, John Mahama, to assassinate some NPP personalities including he, Abronye DC, himself. on the programme, Abronye DC announced to the general public that some NPP personalities would be assassinated by NDC hirelings who would be wearing NPP T-shirts, and these hirelings would be doing the bidding of Former President John Mahama,” the statement said.

In the petition, Mr Lithur said “On the same programme, Abronye DC also stated that President John Mahama ‘killed President John Evans Atta Mills”.

Asking the CID to take over the matter, the renowned lawyer said ” His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, has firmly instructed me to say that the allegations are, of course, false; and for the avoidance of doubt, would like to state that neither the NDC not he has planned to hire, hired, or cause to be hired, or instructed any person to murder or assassinate anybody.”

Invoking section 208 of ACT 29, the former president asked the CID to commence investigation into the matter urgently.
