John Mahama asked to make 2020 intention public

Former President John Mahama has been asked to make his intention to contest the flagbearership race of the National Democratic Congress public.
The demand is being made by the former Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon constituency, Nii Amassah Namoale.

“Some of us have to know his fate before we can take a bold decision whether to contest or not,” he told Accra-based Kasapa FM.
Mr Namoale, who has publicly said he will run for president, said he is not disturbed if the former president decides to run for president again.
He, however, advised Mahama that he still needs 50 plus one vote to become president.
“I am not disturbed when former President Mahama contest for the flagbearership race and I don’t know if he will go,” he said. “But my piece of advice to him is to have in mind that he needs 50 plus 1 votes to get him there.”

The ex-president lost the 2016 election to President Nana Akufo-Addo, becoming the first sitting president in Ghana to lose an election.
