John Dramani Mahama is the first Ghanaian President born after Ghana’s independence

He is the fourth consecutive President named John since 1992, after Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Evans Atta Mills.

He speaks English, Akan (Twi and Fante), Ga, Gonja, Dagbani, and Hausa. He has passing knowledge of the Ewe and Russian languages as well.

He is one of the most-followed African leaders on social media, making his mark as a “modern day president.”

Before entering politics in 1996, he worked at PLAN International, a humanitarian NGO dedicated to the fight against poverty and the advancement of children’s rights.

He is Ghana’s first president to serve at all levels of political office, having served as an MP for Bole Bamboi, Ghana’s representative to the Pan-African Parliament, a deputy minister, minister, vice president, and president.

He is the first President who has visited at least once , each of Ghana’s 216 administrative districts.

John Dramani Mahama is building Ghana into the most important African democracy.
