Hit the street if you’ve won – NDC dares NPP

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has dared the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to hit the street if they think they had won the December 7 polls.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday to react to what the party termed the “irresponsibleness” of the NPP, the deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho said they will not stay aloof for the NPP to declare themselves victors of the presidential race to the Flagstaff House.

The NPP at a press conference addressed by its National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku earlier declared Nana AKufo-Addo, flag bearer of the NPP as winner of the presidential polls.

According to him, out of the 27,577 representing 94.23% of the pinksheets declared at each polling stations and submitted to its coalition centre indicate that Akufo-Addo had a “commanding lead of 53.79% to John Mahama’s 44.42%.”

“This translates into 5441642 votes for the NPP’s presidential candidate and 4497477 for the NDC candidate, a clear difference of 944164,” the National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Sammy Awuku told journalists on Thursday.

“…This is what we call a clear non-riggable margin,” he added, warning that any attempt to delay the “…inevitable will needlessly disturb” what had largely been a peaceful and democratic exercise.

But speaking at a counter press conference, Mr. Anyidoho rubbished the NPP’s declaration of victory. Per the NDC’s internal projections, the presidential nominee of the NDC, President John Mahama is leading.

“We are doing our analysis and President Mahama is winning,” he stated to the admiration of members of the party gracing the event.

As result, he dared the NPP to hit the street if they believed they had won the polls.

“If Sammy Awuku is a man he should hit the street and let us see,” he threatened in a fiery tone.

He, however, noted that “we don’t want violence in this country and if Akufo-Addo has succeeded in turning the NPP into…lawlessness, we will not countenance it as a Republic.”
