Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, says government will soon respond appropriately to NPP’s running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presentation last Thursday on the economic performance of the NDC government under President John Mahama.
Dr. Bawumia at a lecture in Accra to give the true state of the Ghanaian economy, accused the NDC of excessive borrowing that does not match developmental projects in the country.
He said in the last seven years of the NDC administration, government debt has shot up in an unprecedented manner.
According to him, interest payment to loans contracted under President John Mahama in 2015 was $ 9.6 billion.
He said this is more than the budgetary allocation of about five ministries for the 2016.
However, Vice president Amissah Arthur, speaking at an NDC rally at Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region, said some of the inaccuracies and untruths are basic economic principles which the caliber of Dr. Bawumia should have known better and presented the facts, and not what he presented last Thursday.
Vice President Amissah Arthur said President Mahama has worked hard and developed this country to an extent that has not been seen for many years.
Ghanaians must therefore renew his mandate for another four years.
