GONJA Smock weavers, farmers, fishermen support MAHAMA with GH¢20k for NDC forms

Smock weavers, farmers and fishermen in the North Gonja District of the Northern Region have resolved to pay for the nomination forms of former President John Dramani Mahama which has been pegged at GH¢20,000

Speaking to Bole-based Nkilgi FM, spokesperson for the concerned Smock weavers, farmers and fishermen Mr Zezeni Nasiru Junior said former President John Dramani Mahama has marketed the Northern smock more than any prominent personality in Ghana hence their decision to pay for his nomination forms

“Former John Dramani Mahama is the biggest marketer of the Northern smock and his love for the smock made hundreds of people to demand smocks from us during his days but since he left office, demand for the Northern smock has declined and our business might collapse completely with what is happening. The return of former President Mahama means more demand for the smock”; Mr Nasiru said.

He explained that the smock weavers most of whom are not into politics or NDC supporters said they will add any extra money they get to the filing fee of the former President

According to Mr Nasiru, the Famers said former President Mahama did many developmental projects in North Gonja especially the Daboya to Busunu road which has enabled them to cart their farm produce to Damongo, Buipe and other market centres in the area.

On the contribution by fishermen Mr Zezeni Nasiru Junior disclosed in the interview that the fishermen in North Gonja said they had enough premix fuel resulting in bumper harvest during the era of former President Mahama but the situation is different now and the only solution is for the former President to return to power.

At a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last Thursday morning, the party agreed that nomination forms should sell at GH¢20,000.
