Ghana’s construction sector to shine

Companies operating in Ghana’s construction sector are set to boost their activities with the organization of the maiden edition of the Ghana Construction Awards.

The awards ceremony which comes off on November, 27 2015 at the Movenpick Grand Ambassador Hotel in Accra will honor companies and individuals for their accomplishments and strides in Ghana’s construction industry.

According to Instinct Wave Limited, the organizers, the awards will help showcase how the construction industry is pivotal to the economy of the nation whiles recognizing and rewarding companies who are pushing new frontiers in the industry and have exceptional in the past years.

The construction sector plays an important role in economic growth, contributing about 11.8 per cent to Ghana’s overall GDP in 2013.

Speaking at the launch of the Awards, Mr Akin Naphtal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Instinct Wave lamented over the fact that the sector has over the years been neglected in terms of rewarding innovation and creativity.

“Our goal is to celebrate the achievements of those construction companies who have made it their responsibility to transform the construction industry and advance the country’s infrastructural development,” he said.

He contends that the challenges facing the industry especially relating to private sector development, growth and sustainability of professionalism remain enormous.

There is therefore the need for a concerted effort to reward and celebrate industry players bracing the challenge and fostering new building developments across the length and breadth of the country.

“What we want to achieve with the Ghana Construction Awards is to celebrate and reward hard work, exceptional leadership and innovation in the industry. We are bringing together clients, stakeholders, investors, industry players and experts to network and celebrate in a relaxed atmosphere,” added Mr Naphtal.

The Ghana Construction Awards will also present the opportunity for stakeholders to advocate for the industrialization of the country by way of investments in the area of civil engineering, building construction, industrial construction and residential construction.

“The awards ceremony will not be just another networking opportunity but companies and individuals will have the platform to tell their success stories and accomplishments whiles showing the way forward for the industry thereby generating valuable synergies,” concluded Mr Naphtal.

As part of the press launch, the organizers also unveiled the various categories for the maiden Ghana Construction Awards.

Commenting on this, Mr Akin indicated that the award categories were concluded after careful research based on market intelligence. According to him, the award categories though not exhaustive of the industry, it cuts across major segments of the industry.

“Our team left no stone unturned in arriving at the shortlisted categories. The research team have been working on this for the past three months and their findings show just how robust the industry is,” he said.

The Ghana Construction Awards (GCA) recognizes and celebrates outstanding projects executed by some of the best and innovative construction companies in the country. The awards competition will serve to raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry by recognizing the workmanship of those who contribute and by showcasing the results of their dedication.

The awards ceremony will bring together the construction industry’s best and brightest to celebrate the stand-out achievements of movers and shakers of this robust industry.
