Ghana to become ICT hub for West Africa- Ericsson MD

Ghana is well positioned to become the Information and Communication Technology(ICT) hub for West Africa, Managing Director(MD) of Ericsson Ghana, Roger Aramouni has said.

Speaking to the Press in Accra,he said the country has the needed framework and environment as well as a very positive market space to ensure that ICT is developed to the highest level.

The Press Conference was aimed at bringing to Ghana,events that occurred at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona in February which brought several ICT experts to exhibit new trends in technology.

“Ghana has a very good atmosphere that would foster the growth and development of technology and be the center of attraction in West Africa as far as ICT is concerned”,he stated.

According to him, Ghana is very important to Ericsson and they would work together to bring the next big thing in terms of technology,5G network to Ghana.

“Ericsson has been operating in Ghana since the 1990’s and made the first made the first 2G call in Accra. Later introduced 3G and 4G and looking forward to 5g in 2022”,he stated.

“We are currently preparing Ghana towards the next step. 5G, which is the next generation of mobile and Internet of Things (IOT) which would ensure that everything would be connected”,he added.

The telecommunications solution giants he said, has one billion subscribers world wide and presently operating in 180 countries.

The outfit he added, would continue to lead the digital transformation and revolution agenda and change all industries across the globe.

“The massive transformation would not be limited to telecommunications but Agriculture, Transport and other areas of the economy”,he stressed.

He said, the industry needs to shift from traditional to more automatic ways on doing things which would go a long way to foster economic growth.
