Ghana has been ranked 165th in infant mortality out of 224 countries in a data compiled by the World Health Organization on the health status of nations around the world.
The country scored an infant mortality rate of 37.37 in the study conducted this year to assess the number of infant deaths per one thousand live births.
The Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Ebenezar Appiah-Denkyira, said know an interview that the figures are good, more needs to be done to sustain the success.
He urged women, especially pregnant women to make their health and that of their children a priority.
He is sure that within the next five years, infant mortality will receive the lowest ranking.
