Freddie Blay is NPP’s problem – Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, founding member NPP -Audio

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, has accused the flagbearer of the party, Nana Akufo Addo, of abandoning the battlefield for foreign trips to solicit for campaign funds.

“I know I am not in the inner bracket, but I know, if we had money Nana Addo will not be junketing all the place like that,” Dr Tamakloe said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme hosted by Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong (KABA) Tuesday.

“The battlefield is here, he has abandoned the battlefield, Kufuor was always on the battlefield, and this is what we want Nana Addo to do.

“He has been to London how many times this year. You are the leader of the party, you should be seen here in the hamlets, in the villages, that is where your presence is required not junketing all over the place,” he said.

When he was told by the host that Akufo Addo has not abandoned the battlefield but was going to raise money for his campaign, Dr Tamakloe said “the leader of the party should not be at the forefront of begging.

“I don’t believe Clinton [the US Democratic presidential nominee] goes cup in hand looking for money, there are people who do that

“So if it is him [Akufo Addo] who would have to talk to people before the money comes in then we are in trouble…why can’t he trust the finance committee to go there and solicit for funds for the party,” he said.

Often accused of divisiveness and causing disaffection for the party, Dr Tamakloe did not spare a moment to accuse Akufo Addo of being behind the suspension of Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyapong and Sammy Crabb from the party.

“The present difficulties that we are going through as a party… I have never for a second thought certain decisions would have been taken by Nana Addo. What has he benefitted from the National Chairman of the party being put on ice?” he quizzed.

Dr Tamakloe is currently serving an indefinite suspension for bringing the name of the party into disrepute.

He accused the acting National Chairman, Mr Freddie Blay of being the cause of many of the problems the party was going through and described him as an “outsider”
