Former Turkey Ambassador to Ghana jailed over Gulen links

Former Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Senturk Uzun is facing detention over his alleged connections with the Gulen movement, Turkish news outlet Anadolu has reported.

The detention of the former Ambassador on July 26 in Istanbul forms part of investigations following a failed coup attempt said to have been orchestrated by the Gulem movement in Turkey last year.

The former diplomat was apprehended on accusations of being a member of a terrorist organization. The movement has however denied any form of connection with the said coup.

According to the reports, Senturk Uzun has been under investigations since last year due to his rumoured use of a mobile app known as ByLock, which according to Turkish authorities is the communication device used by members of the Gulen movement.

Former deputy governor in Ankara, Uzun served as Turkey’s ambassador to Ghana from September 2013 to August 2014.
