Flood kills 59-year-old woman

A 59-year-old woman has been confirmed dead after a heavy downpour in Tamale and some other districts of the Northern Region on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Hajia Fati Bapuni, was on her way to pick her child from school when the incident occurred, Accra-based Class FM reports.

The woman passed away after allegedly being swept away by the strong current of the floods on her arrival at the Gariba Lodge Main Gutter area.

The heavy rains in Tamale on Tuesday left several suburbs of the metropolis submerged.

The Tamale Teaching Hospital was also flooded as a result.
The three-hour downpour also caused flooding in other parts of the metropolis. Areas affected were Kanvili- Tunayili, Gumani, Kunyavilli.
