The leadership of some commercial drivers groups calling themselves Drivers For Change have begged former president John Dramani Mahama to forgive them for campaigning against him in 2016.
According to them, they were wrong in campaigning against the then-sitting president in 2016.
“We apologise for playing a key [role] in ousting you in 2016,” they said.
The spokesperson for the Drivers For Change, Yaw Barimah, issued an apology to former president John Dramani Mahama when he joined his campaign at Nsoko in the Bono East Region on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
He said Drivers for Change played a key role in making the price of fuel in the 2016 general elections an issue.
He stressed that when John Mahama was president, a litre of petrol was a little over GHS 3.27 and 4.5 litres which means a gallon was only GHS 14.
“’Today, a litre of fuel under the current president Nana Addo’s administration is more than [what] a gallon of fuel was during the reign of the former president John Dramani Mahama,” Barimah bemoaned.
Yaw Barimah’s apology was aired on the Ghana Yenson morning show hosted by Odeyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
It is on this premise, he asked the former Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, to lead the commercial drivers to the former president to profusely apologise to him for hounding him out of power when he was doing good for the nation.
He said the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has misled them hence the need for the government to be changed for the former to come and continue with his good works to cushion Ghanaians
