Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State has voted N760 million to stimulate key economic sectors in the state.
Speaking during the presentation N76 546 billion being the 2016 Budget tagged ‘Budget of Consistency and Transformation’ to members of the state House of Assembly, the governor said: “The economic sectors which stimulate the growth, development and provide the investment base with their components are Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Science and Minerals Development, Rural Development, Trade and Industry, etc., is to gulp an estimated figure of N760,000,000.00”
According to him, N6.2 billion would be spent on the social sector with focus on higher education; accreditation and conversion of School of Nursing and Midwifery and School of Health Technology into colleges with the flexibility to upscale their courses.
He said: “N1 billion is voted for higher education, while N2. 668 billion is channeled to Health. Youth Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation has an allocation of N 750 million. Women Development and Empowerment earmarked with N265 million; Sports Development, N 250 million while Culture and Tourism got an allocation of N80 million.”
