Crowd At John Mahama’s Campaign Tour In Ashanti Region Marvel Ghanaians As He Resumes Today

The one-week mourning period for His Excellency the former President and founder of the National Democratic Congress Jerry John Rawlings has finally come to the end.
In view of this, some politicians have started their campaign again.
His Excellency the former President and the leader and flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama, has resumed his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region today, Friday, November 20, after it’s suspension over the death of the founder of the NDC, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings. The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is also expected to be in the Volta Region.

Today, currently as we’re speaking, former President John Dramani Mahama is at the New Edubiase constituency in the Ashanti Region of the country. From live coverage of an ongoing durbar to meet with the Chiefs and Traditional Leaders of New Edubiase and it’s environs, one can hardly locate former President John Mahama.
Upon his arrival, constituents of New Edubiase wooed the former President with a huge crowd and one can’t literally identify where he is. He is completely missing. Joy News reporter, Maxwell Agbagba, reported to the host of 2020 Election In Brief on the Joy News channel that the former President has shaken the whole place, and that this is a completely unprecedented phenomenon in the stronghold of the NPP.

The Ashanti Region is identified as the stronghold and world bank of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP). And as everyone will expect, the National Democratic Congress should have received less support compared to the NPP, but the story is rather the other way round. Times and seasons do change indeed.

What may be the course of this unexpected turnaround? The New Patriotic Party may be complacent, first of all, because they believe that the Ashanti Region is their stronghold and nothing can possibly rewrite that fact.

Secondly, because in the 2016 general elections, the difference between the total votes count of the NDC and NPP was almost one million. This would probably make the governing New Patriotic Party feel complacent and think they have already conquered the Ashanti Region from a historical perspective.
John Mahama has just arrived at the durbar grounds and will soon address the chiefs and the constituents of New Edubiase. In attendance, apart from John Mahama himself, are the National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Joshua Alabi, the Regional Chairman of the NDC in the Ashanti Region and many other dignitaries of the party.

From the New Edubiase, John Mahama will move to Ejisu, another stronghold of the NPP later in the day. Meanwhile, we have barely 17 days to the December 7 polls and Ghanaians can’t wait to exercise their civic responsibility to make the rightful choice.
