Confirmation of Tiwaa as CID Boss is meant for her to lie and defend NPP-Former MP

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo North in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Akwasi Adusei has congratulated the new Director-General of the Police Criminal Investigative Department, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah amidst mockeries.

“I hear A-Plus’ friend has been confirmed to take full control despite all the controversies. She will now have the power to lie and defend NPP people”, he said.

“Anyway, I congratulate her on her new position….she can go ahead to defend President Akufo-Addo and people in government”, Hon. Akwasi Adusei spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM

It will be recalled that ACP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah was implicated in the infamous corruption saga at the seat of government when musician A-Plus smeared two deputy Chiefs of Staff – Asenso Boakye and Abu Jinapor with corruption claims.

The accusations had to do with the two, President Nana Akufo-Addo’s two Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye and Samuel Abu Jinapor, pressuring the Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to give back an on-site revenue-collection contract at the hospital to UniBank after the same contract had been terminated.

The claims were subsequently referred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further scrutiny of which Maame Yaa Tiwaa was in charge but it later emerged that whatever conversation she had with the musician and sympathizer of the NPP was taped and later leaked.

The text of excerpts of the conversation are seen below:

“as for the corruption aspect of it, from what you said and what we’ve gone to confirm, you wouldn’t be too far from right to say that this is what happened, but we need to manage… the people are your people. We need to find the best way to ensure that Korle Bu works the way we all want it to work.”

“I feel sad for Nana, I think he has good intentions but he is not going to achieve them. You need somebody who’ll be neutral to tell them exactly what is there for them to understand and I wish I could have an audience with the President himself. Because it looks like most of the things doesn’t get to him…yes I feel sad for him.”

A Plus on the other side, said he has achieved his aim. “For me I think I have achieved my aim”

Following the exit of her immediate boss, COP Bright Oduro under controversial circumstances late last year, she was asked to act by the Police Council and subsequently promoted and appointed as Director of CID a move that has since been criticized by many.
