Chief of Staff consoles Otumfuo

Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah and some members of the National Democratic Congess (NDC), visited the Manhyia palace to acquaint with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the sudden death of his biological mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwah Ampem, the Asantehemaa on Monday.

Mr. Julius Debrah, on Wednesday November 17, who is on a five-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

He however, took the opportunity to mourn with the Asantehene.

Mr Debrah and the campaign team were given a warm reception by Asantehene and his elders.

The thirteenth queen mother of the Kingdom passed way “peacefully at her palace on Monday 14th November 2016.”

Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II “has been the pillar of strength and a source of wisdom behind the transformational reign of His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II.”

The traditional one week rites of the queen will be performed on the 24th of November 2016 at the Manhyia Palace.

She is the 39th Asantehemaa of the Ashanti Kingdom.
There will be no funeral, drumming and noise making in the Ashanti Kingdom until the funeral rites of the Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II have been performed.
