Calls for me to reshuffle gov’t appointees are moves by NDC to destabilise my gov’t – Akufo-Addo

8th August 2022

The President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has shot down calls for him to reshuffle appointees in his government.

Since assuming power in January 2017, H.E Akufo-Addo has not undertaken any major reshuffle.

This according to many government experts and Civil Society Organisations have not helped to keep appointees on their toes to give their best.

As a result, calls in the past year have heightened as pressure piles on President Akufo-Addo to reshuffle and sack underperforming Ministers.

Reacting to the calls during an interview with North Star Radio in Tamale on Monday, August 8, the President explained why reshuffling may not be an option in his government.

According to him, most of his appointees have performed well.

The President said the calls for a reshuffle are being fueled by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) just to destabilise his government.

“Many of them for me have done outstanding work. Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at.

“If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call. The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilise the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs,” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo shared.

The comments have shot down speculations of a possible reshuffle of ministers.
