Ayisi Boateng’s blunder indefensible; sack him – Kwaku Baako to President

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has urged President Akufo Addo to sack Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, George Ayisi-Boateng, over his divisive comments.

According to him, he finds it difficult making the call against Mr Ayisi Boateng whom he considers a fine politician who over the years always exudes lots of wisdom in his public discourse.

Mr Ayisi Boateng over the weekend while addressing members of the Kumasi Technical University branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy Network (TESCON) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) stated emphatically that he’ll serve members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) first before any other Ghanaian when they need support.

According to him, solving the problems of NPP members in South Africa is his topmost priority, a position he’s made clear to Ghanaians in that country.

My Ayisi Boateng’s has come under heavy flak after his unguarded statement sparked uproar among section of the public. The NDC Minority in Parliament has also called for his immediate dismissal.

Speaking on Peace FM Wednesday, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako described the NPP Ashanti Regional Council of Elders Chairman’s comments as undiplomatic, indiscreet, unwarranted for which he must pay a price for.

“I’ve never met him but from a distance I’ve always appreciated him, he’s an elder and anytime he’s called on radio, you hear the depth, wisdom in his analysis of issues. I didn’t want to believe earlier reports I’d seen about his utterances until I heard the audio and I was really shocked. It really disturbed me because I think he’s a fine gentleman, elderly person and a wise man. He has a unique style of going about issues when he’s speaking publicly so I was really disturbed when I heard him on this matter.
He added: “I wish this didn’t happen to a fine gentleman like Mr Ayisi Boateng, but it has happened so he must pay the price for it. It’s so unfortunate, I’m not sure he could even give any jobs at the Embassy, that’s the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. To be honest, to say that you’ll prioritize NPP members problems or challenges and to say that NPP members are more Ghanaians than others is difficult to defend regardless of which contest you put this matter. I think this is a self inflicted casualty. I’m saddened by the damage this matter has caused to Mr Ayisi Boateng’s reputation. I don’t know him but I’ve always thought…what a wise man he is. This one it’s so difficult for me to reconcile. An apology earlier would have mitigated it, but he came to defend his words and I think that’s what has spoiled the matter.”
